3) All October monthly prizes will be mailed on November 15. If you believe there are any errors, please contact Dennis at picks@gridguppy.com by November 12.

4) RULE-If you send in selections on time but did not realize or forgot there was a Thursday game(s), you get the visitor(s) in that game. If you do not select the Thanksgiving games (3 games), you get the visitors for those games, the rest of your selections will count but you are not eligible for that week’s prize.

6) Quickie KOTH Rules:
A) If you are eligible & don’t select, you get your Monday selection as your Best Bet.
B) You aren’t eligible to participate in the KOTH contest in the week that is your 3^rd non-mailing week.

7) Last Place Rules:
We have a last place prize.  Some of you may already be thinking about it.  In order to “win” last place, you MUST send in your selections the final 2 weeks of the season and can not have more than 2 non-mailing weeks for the season!!
If you have no non-mailing weeks after Week 15 and you don’t select in Week 16 and/or Week 17, you are still eligible for a Super Bowl Grid Box.  You just can’t win the prize!!

8 ) If you didn’t sign up for our College Bowl or Pro Playoff contests, you can still do so.  The cost is $20 per contest and the deadline is Nov. 30. Mail checks to Dennis. You can’t sign up for KOTH III if you didn’t sign up prior to this season.

9) The Participant List will be posted shortly. It will show those eligible for the KOTH, Pro Playoff and College Bowl contests.  If you believe there is an error, please contact Dennis immediately.

     Danielthemaniel, Road Warrior & Robbiegrand did not send in selections for Week 6 and get the Home 5-9 record. It is the 1^st non-selecting week for all three Guppies. 
   
2)  4 Alive in KOTH I-ADB22, BMKC, Drcrowley & Red Dog 44. KOTH II begins in Week 7.  If you are one of the 4 Alive in both contests, you may either select one team to be your Best Bet in KOTH I & II or you may designate a different team for each contest.

3)  KOTH Rule-If you forget to select a Best Bet, you get your Monday selection as your Best Bet.  

4)  Week 10 is the last week with bye weeks.  After that it’s 16 games per week- to the end.

5)  Week 7 is the final week for the October monthly prize.  There are NO tiebreakers for the monthly prize.

6)  Total points tiebreaker on the Monday game are based on the number used, not half points.  If you select 43.5 points, your selection counts as 43 points.

7)  To be eligible for any weekly prize in a tie situation, you must select the Monday point total.

2009 Gridiron Guppy Notes

WEEK 5 NOTES (2009)-Steve Pine Memorial Gridiron Guppy Contest

Welcome to the 1^st week of Guppy Notes in Week #5.  I apologize for the delay in getting the 2009 edition of the Gridiron Guppies underway.  We have been around for over 25 years and have grown to over 200 strong.  Guppy notes will continue to be posted on a weekly basis from now on. 

Unfortunately, about 8 months ago, it was determined that I have something in common with Mario Lemieux and Carl Nelson. While they became champions in their respective sports and I am an athletic supporter, all three of us were diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  Fortunately, after getting chemo and taking steroids over this period, I have been given a clean bill of health.  I hope no one will ask that I be suspended from the Guppy contest for use of an illegal substance. Now that I no longer am preoccupied with this problem, I can devote more time to my work and the Guppies. 

A major change was made this year by switching to Office Pool to reduce administrative costs and even though there was a late mailing and a reduction of 17 Guppies (there are 219 Guppies in 2009) from last year, the prizes to be paid remain about the same as last year.

I thank you for your patience and I promise to keep notes and results posted on a timely basis from now on. The September prize money has been mailed. I look forward to another successful season with the hope that we can add more Guppies for next year and our prize money can grow even more.   Dennis.

2) There are still 7 alive in KOTH I. There were 10 alive in KOTH I at this time last year. KOTH II begins in Week 7 (191 participants for $1,910).

3) When KOTH II begins in Week 7, you may still be alive in KOTH I.  You may select a Best Bet for each contest and designate which contest you want that team or you can select the same team for both contests (KOTH I & II). If you forget to select a Best Bet, you get your Monday selection as your Best Bet.  If you are alive in both contests and you forget to select a Best Bet, you get your Monday selection in both contests.

4) Regular Contest Winners & Losers can be found at the bottom of the picks table on the Office Pool website for each week.

5) MONTHLY STANDINGS-The winner of the Best Month & Best Month Runner up in October will be determined after Week 7.  In order to determine the monthly standings for the month, sign in at Office Pool, hit on Standings, then Part Season standings and then ask for the Weeks 4 thru 7.

6) ADJUSTMENTS-The following adjustments must still be made to the season standings and will be corrected shortly:

a) Delete (5 Guppies)-123abc456, Clarencestephen, Dallasbabe26, Jaime A Solomon,

    Mikethetwin. This makes a total of 219 Guppies.

b) Adjustments:
    1) Saltmann-Did not receive credit for Tennessee in Week 1 and will receive 1 additional win.

    2) Sack Exchange gets 6-10 for missing Week 3.

    3) Krev/Fich gets 2-12 for missing Week 4.

    4) The Captain In Vegas gets 2-12 for missing Week 4.

    5) Ryry gets 6-8 for missing Week 5.
    6) The Captain In Vegas gets 6-8 for missing Week 5.

After the adjustments, there should be 219 Guppies listed with everyone showing 76 games). Coming Soon-Eligible participants in KOTH, Pro Playoff & College Bowl contests will be posted.  If you think there is an error, notify Dennis.

8 ) There is a $300 bonus for NO losses in a 16 game week, a $275 bonus for NO losses in a 15 game week, $250 bonus for NO losses in a 14 game week, and a $225 bonus for NO losses in a 13 game week. $12 will be deducted from each of the Top 25 Prize Winners if in a 16 game week, $11 will be deducted from each of the Top 25 Prize Winners in a 15 game week, $10 will be deducted from each of the Top 25 Prize Winners if in a 14 game week and $9 will be deducted from each of the Top 25 Prize Winners if in a 13 game week to cover this cost.   

9) It is advisable to use 2 methods of sending in KOTH selections when you email to Dennis & Carole: picks@gridguppy.com and/or carole@gridguppy.com

10) If you didn’t sign up for our College Bowl or Pro Playoff contests, you can still do so.  The cost is $20 per contest and the deadline is Nov. 30. Mail checks to Dennis Fingold. You can’t sign up for KOTH II or KOTH III if you didn’t sign up prior to this season.
