WEEK 7 NOTES (2014)-Steve Pine Memorial Gridiron Guppy Contest
1) Best Week Winner-Bakken Boyz (M. Freed) (12 Wins) (46 Pts)
Best Week Runner-up–Lfuchter (L. Fruchter) (12 Wins) (42 Pts)
Cypress Fats did not select in Week 7 and receives the worst record of the Home, Visitors, Favorites & Underdogs. He receives the Visitor’s record of 7-8. This is his 1st non-selecting week. The Favorites were also 7-8 but according to the rules, in case of ties, you receive the Home/Visitor over the Favorite/Underdog. This is only important if you are alive in a KOTH contest.
9 Guppies did not select the Thursday game and receive the Visitor (Jets-Winner). They are: Boo Boo NY, Bsquaredbigapple, Itspolo, Mickey Pick’ems, RGH, Road Warrior, Tfaz, Theguppies, Tkantor.
There are 92 Guppies alive in KOTH II. There were 24 Guppies who did not select Best Bets for KOTH II in Week 7. They received their Monday selection as their Best Bet with NO penalty. They are noted with an asterisk at the end of their Best Bet selection posted on the website. All selections for Best Bets are due Noon on Sunday–October 26 which is one hour before final selections for Sunday are due. If you choose a Thursday game as your Best Bet, it is due at kickoff. Best Bet selections are only accepted at picks@gridguppy.com and carole@gridguppy.com
Apologies to the KOTH I winners. They were not given individual recognition on a job well done. The 3 winners were: Brodies Crew (J. Grass), Syc (R. Barberio), Tomryankelly (T. Kelly).
2) To repeat-The deadline for sending in Best Bets is still Noon Eastern on Sunday.
The only two places to send KOTH selections is: picks@gridguppy.com & carole@gridguppy.com It is advisable to send to both places and separately to avoid problems. You are responsible to make sure your selections are received
3) Monthly Contenders-Bear Man (32 Wins); Lfruchter & Ribsters (31 Wins). Monthly wins for October will be determined by using wins in Weeks 5-8 plus the Thursday October 30 game from Week 9.
4) October monthly ends with the Thursday night game on October 30. To view standings for the monthly prize, go to the Office Pool website, go to Standings, hit on Part Season Standings and choose range of NFL Week 5 to NFL Week 8. Then go to the Week 9 selection page and add the Thursday October 30th result to the record. There are NO tiebreakers for the Monthly prizes.
5) All October monthly prizes will be mailed on November 10. If you believe there are any errors, please contact Dennis at picks@gridguppy.com by November 6.
6) Just Wondering-Would you rather make the playoffs 7 out of the last 8 seasons, play in the Super Bowl twice and lose twice in the last 8 years but be a contending team all of the last 8 years. If you would, then welcome to New England. Or would you rather win the Super Bowl 2 out of the last 6 years, miss the playoffs in 2009, 2010 & 2012 and be 1-6 in 2013. If you would, welcome to Big Blue.
7) RULE-If you send in selections on time Sunday but forgot to select the Thursday game, you get the visitor in the Thursday game, you are eliminated for the weekly prize but remain eligible for the monthly prize. If you do not select any of the Thanksgiving games (3 games), you get the visitors for those games, the rest of your selections will count but you are not eligible for that week’s prize. You are not eligible for the monthly prize if you fail to select more than 1 of the Thursday games.
8) KOTH II Winners: Giants-22; 49ers-19; Chargers-12; Cowboys-10.
Losers: Chiefs-30; Patriots-24; Bears-17.
9) Quickie KOTH Rules:
A) If you are eligible & don’t select, you get your Monday selection as your Best Bet.
B) You aren’t eligible to participate in the KOTH contest in the week that is your 6th non-mailing week.
10) Last Place Rules:
We have a last place prize. Some of you may already be thinking about it. In order to “win” last place, you MUST send in your selections the final 2 weeks of the season and can not have more than 2 non-mailing weeks for the season!!
If you have no non-mailing weeks after Week 15 and you don’t select in Week 16 and/or Week 17, you are still eligible for a Super Bowl Grid Box. You just can’t win the Last Place prize!!
11) If you didn’t sign up for our College Bowl or Pro Playoff contests, you can still do so. The cost is $20 per contest and the deadline is Nov. 30. Mail checks to Dennis. You can’t sign up for KOTH III if you didn’t sign up prior to this season.
